Hong Kong Stock Exchange: Crypto Should be Subject to Existing Securities Regulation

Bitmain Enables Overt AsicBoost Activation in Latest Firmware Update

Source: Newsbtc.com

Chinese cryptocurrency mining giant, Bitmain, has officially released a firmware update that allows Bitcoin miners to activate the Overt AsicBoost upgrade that significantly increases their operational efficiency and decreases their cost-basis. The upgrade comes after the development group behind Slush Pool verified that Bitmain’s popular Antminer S9 hardware is capable of supporting the upgrade, even though it was purposely disabled by the manufacturer. Overt Versus Covert AsicBoost There are two types of AsicBoost that can be used by miners in order to increase their operational efficiency: overt and covert. Covert AsicBoost is extremely controversial, as many of its critics claim that it encourages miners to produce small or empty blocks, making it damaging to Bitcoin’s protocol. Covert AsicBoost also has multiple anonymity features that shields the identities of miners, making it ideal for individual miners or organizations that are looking…

EOS Price Watch: Breakout to Happen Soon!

EOS Price Watch: Breakout to Happen Soon!
Source: Newsbtc.com

EOS Price Key Highlights EOS has moved to the very end of its triangle pattern, which means that a breakout is bound to happen. Technical indicators are giving mixed signals on the direction of a breakout. Whichever way price decides to go, EOS might be in for a trend that’s roughly the same height as the triangle formation. EOS could be prime for a triangle breakout soon as it approaches the end of its consolidation chart pattern. Technical Indicators Signals The 100 SMA is below the longer-term 200 SMA, hinting that the path of least resistance is to the downside or that support is more likely to break. A candle closing below the 5.300 mark could be enough to confirm that a downtrend is underway. The moving averages line up with the triangle top to add to its strength as…

With the Sapling activation approaching, we’re continuing our education on what users and third-party services can expect. We recently announced the Sapling turnstile and what users should anticipate with this feature. In this post, we’re going to look at the Sapling transaction anatomy. Legacy Shielded Transactions and JoinSplits Just after the launch of Zcash, we wrote an introduction on the Anatomy of A Zcash Transaction. The basic spend types will also apply after Sapling activation but there are some nuanced changes to how shielded addresses appear in transactions. In transactions involving legacy shielded addresses, the zero-knowledge proof operation is referred to as a JoinSplit. A JoinSplit consumes either one or two input values and creates either one or two output values. These input and output values are referred to as notes. A JoinSplit does not reveal whether one or two…

The latest version of our codes can be found here.ETH Collateral for DigixDAO ProposalsWe have decided that DigixDAO proposals will need an ETH collateral to be locked before creating a proposal. The concept of collateral has been widely observed in other DAOs too, for instance, DASH Governance. The rationale behind adding this part is basically to make it a little more difficult for spammers to create a lot of spam proposals. Since some value is at stake, the proposers would have to be more careful in planning and executing their proposal. The collateral will be similar to other…

Wann…

At TenX we wanted to show you what has happened within the last year from when we were just 8 people. Today we have about 80 employees. How much money we have now, what it looks like with us, what we are working on — that’s exactly what the Q2 Transparency Report is about. It is not our goal to publish a transparency report every quarter; rather, such a report should always be published at important points in time. The main reason for this is that we think long-term and don’t want to lose anything in the long term just to achieve something in the short term. What we have deliberately refrained from…

It seems that there is an interesting new cryptocurrency called JSEcoin that is targeted at offering webmasters a different way to monetizing their website traffic. Essentially allowing visitors to the website to mine the cryptocurrency with the help of small piece of javascript code embedded on the blog or website. The algorithm is not very heavy or demanding and the mining process itself does not seem to be taking too much CPU resources (it is CPU only), so the computer remains responsive and working just fine as if it is not calculating anything. This is making it pretty interesting for owners of big websites with more visitors, especially visitors that stay longer, but also makes it easy for regular users that are not yet into cryptocurrencies to actually get into mining this new cryptocoin as it only requires you to…

BitMain Apparently Releasing 8x GPU AMD and Nvidia Miners in China

It seems that BitMain is willing to extend its presence from just the ASIC mining market as the company is apparently releasing two new devices for miners that are essentially dedicated GPU miners. For now the devices dubbed G1 with 8x GeForce GTX 1060 GPUs and G2 with 8x Radeon RX570 GPUs are only listed on the Chinese website of the company with prices only in CNY. This means that they are most likely targeted initially for the Chinese miners market and may not be sold outside of the country. Inside the server like cases we are expecting to see mining versions of the GPUs being used as this is the way to go with such solutions intended for large scale mining operations and not for small home miners. As one would expect the devices are targeted at Ethereum (ETH)…
